Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET) is a non-governmental organization initiated in May 2000 by several women’s organisations in Uganda to develop the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among women as tools to share information and address issues collectively. WOUGNET’s vision is a society in which women are empowered through the use of ICTs for sustainable development. Our mission is to promote and support the use of ICTs by women and women organisations in Uganda, so that they can take advantage of the opportunities presented by ICTs in order to effectively address national and local problems of Sustainable National Development.

Profile of the candidate

Eligibility criteria:
  • All applicants must hold or currently pursue a Swedish university degree within ICT and be resident of Sweden (hold a Swedish personal identification number) regardless of their country of origin.
  • All candidates must have lived outside of Uganda for at least 8 years in the last 10 years. The starting date of the last ten years should be considered fromthe date that the Intern applies to the internship selection process.
  • All candidates must be maximum 30 on the date of the interview

Skills, Experience and Other Requirements:

  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinker able to contribute to policies and strategies for WOUGNET that respond to the ever-changing possibilities with ICTs;
  • Proficiency in computer and networking systems as well as familiarity with database management and information management;
  • Willingness to work effectively in diverse urban and rural environments, and with people with a wide ranging skills and aptitude for ICTs;
  • Good interpersonal skills, with an ability to consistently support and encourage staff and members to embrace the use of ICT;
  • Good organisational and planning skills including the ability to prioritise and manage own time even under pressure;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Good writing, communication and reporting skills as well;
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work outside official working hours

Desirable experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of a variety of software packages
  • Experience of / exposure to ICTs for rural development
Minimum Qualifications:
University degree with a qualification in ICT, Communications, Computer Science or related field. Additional study or training in areas of social and economic development and/or gender analysis is a bonus. Experience and knowledge with FOSS; Mobile application development; network management.

Dalam kesempatan itu, Wulff juga memuji semboyan Indonesia yaitu Bhinneka Tunggal Ika yang menurutnya masih dijunjung dalam kehidupan sehari-hari oleh masyarakatnya.

"Kami terharu dengan moto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika dan bagaimana negara itu bisa demokrasi, suku dan agama hidup bersama dalam kebebasan dan pengungkapan. Kebebsan memilih agama bisa menjadi teladan dalam demokrasi oleh negara-negara mayoritas islam seperti Afrika dan Arab," kata dia. [mvi]

Merit scholarships are offered to students based upon the information gathered from the University of Evansville Application for Admission. For full consideration of all awards, students should apply by UE's Early Action deadline of December 1, 2011.

Presidential Scholarship — valued at $16,500 per year. Awarded to the highest achieving applicants, Presidential Scholars are invited to Davidson Scholarship Days to compete for a:

  • Dean's Scholarship — valued at $18,000 per year, or
  • Trustee Scholarship — valued at $20,000 per year or full-tuition

National Merit, National Achievement, and National Hispanic Scholar Awards — valued at $20,000 or full-tuition. For National Merit Scholar semifinalists, National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars, and National Achievement Scholar semifinalists, the UE scholarship will be $20,000 per year.

National Merit Scholar finalists and National Achievement Scholar finalists will receive a full-tuition scholarship per year if they list UE as their college choice with the National Merit Corporation by the April deadline.

Ridgway Award — valued at $18,000 per year. Awarded to the highest achieving applicants who reside or attend high school in Vanderburgh County, Indiana.

National Need for Nurses — valued at $18,000 per year. Awarded to students accepted into UE's Nursing program.

Scouting Scholarship — valued at a minimum $13,000 per year. Awarded to students who have earned the highest rank in their Boy or Girl Scouting experience.

Academic Scholarship — valued at $13,000 to $15,000 per year.

Aces Award — valued at $9,500 per year.

Fine Arts Scholarships — valued at $9,500 to $16,500 per year. Applicants must audition with academic area of interests.

The awards listed above are for domestic, full-time freshmen in traditional undergraduate degree programs, who graduate from high school in Spring 2012 and enter UE in Fall 2012. Students are awarded the merit scholarship of highest value.

Earned Financial Awards for Fall 2012

Students may earn additional financial awards from the following programs in which they qualify.

Davidson Scholarship Days — Invited students may compete within their academic areas of interest for additional financial awards ($500 to $1,500 per year).

Manager and Trainer Grants — Awarded at the discretion of UE's athletics manager or trainer to students who assist with UE's NCAA Division I Athletic teams ($1,000 to $2,000 per year).

Ensemble Participation Grants — Awarded to non-music majors who will perform with a UE music ensemble. The award is $500 per year and based upon student audition which must be completed by April 1, 2012.

Sibling Scholarship — Awarded to the older UE student when a younger sibling enrolls. The award is $1,500 per year while both students attend UE. Entering twins or triplets each receive $1,000 per year.

Add-on Scholarships for Fall 2012

Students may receive one of the following:

International Baccalaureate Diploma Award ($500 per year). Awarded to students who earn the International Baccalaureate Diploma in high school.

Legacy Award ($500 per year). Awarded to children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of UE graduates.

United Methodist Scholarship ($500 per year). Awarded if student is an active member of a United Methodist Church and recommended by a minister.

A. The New Integrated Scholarship Program

1. University President Scholarship (UPS)
This scholarship is awarded to bona fide UE students who obtain a General Weighted Average (GWA) of 1.00-1.20
Benefits: Free full tuition and miscellaneous fees; a stipend of P1, 200 per month; and Book allowance of P1, 500.

2. University Scholarship (US)

B. President Francisco Dalupan Sr. Scholarship

C. UE-Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc. (TYKFI) Scholarships
UE-TYKFI Undergraduate Program

UE-TYKFI offers scholarship to highly qualified high school graduates interested in pursuing undergraduate degrees in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Sciences (including Biology, Physics and Chemistry), Accountancy or Dentistry.
Full Scholars:
Benefits: Free Full tuition and miscellaneous fees; Book allowance of P1,500 per semester; Uniform subsidy of P1,000 per semester; Transportation allowance of P1,000 per semester or P200 per month; and a stipend of P2,500 per month.

Half Scholars:
Benefits: Free full tuition and miscellaneous fees and receive half the amount for book and transportation allowances, uniform subsidy and stipend.

UE-TYFI Master's and Doctorate Program for Faculty Development
Faculty scholars in both programs:
(1.) Full study leave with pay computed on the basis of his/her hourly rate for 24 hours or its equivalent during a regular semester; nine (9) hours or its equivalent during summer (in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Accountancy, Dentistry, Science or Mathematics);
(2.) Free tuition and other school fees;
(3.) Monthly stipend of P5,000;
(4.) Book allowance of P1,000 and P1,500 under the MA and Doctorate program respectively; and
(5.) health insurance within the duration of the scholarship.

D. Accountancy Honors Program

This highly competitive scholarship is awarded to top high school graduates who are interested to pursue a degree in Accountancy in UE.
Benefits: Free full tuition fee and miscellaneous fees, free lodging, stipend of P3,000 per month, Book allowance of P1,500 per semester, personalized coaching and mentoring and active career placement support.

E. The Integrated Service Grants Program

Free tuition and miscellaneous fees in full or in part for the Athletic Service Grant and the Cultural service Grant for members of the Drama Workshop, the UE Chorale, the Dance Troupe, the UE Band and the Cheering Squad.

F. Presidential Decree 577 Scholarship Grant

For a dependent (spouse, unmarried child, parent or the next of kin) of military personnel who died or became incapacitated in the line of duty:
Benefits: Free Full tuition and miscellaneous fees.

G. Student Assistantship Program

For intellectually capable students willing and able to work for four (4) hours of service in the department/office of the University:
Benefits: Free tuition and miscellaneous fees, and a monthly allowance of P600.

H. Golden Plan

UE gives a special discount of 25% on tuition fee to its recent graduates and 20% discount on said fee to all alumni who graduated 2 years prior to the implementation of this plan in SY 1992-93, to assist at affordable costs all UE alumni who wish to pursue their graduate studies.

RULES RELATING TO SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS-IN-AID

The following rules govern all scholarships and grants-in-aid in all departments of the University, including the Institute of Technical Education (ITE).
To qualify for any scholarship/grant-in-aid, a student must possess good moral character and must not have any record of misconduct in schools previously attended.

A student who qualifies for two or more University scholarships/grants-in-aid may enjoy only one at his option. He forfeits the other scholarship/s or grant/s-in-aid.

A student who has been granted a scholarship by a non-UE entity, either government or private, may, if qualified, avail himself of a University scholarship or grant-in-aid. School fees paid to the University by the sponsoring entity will be refunded to the student.

A high school valedictorian or salutatorian may be granted a University Entrance Scholarship in any semester provided he has not previously enrolled in any College or University other than the University of the East.

The University Scholarship-Dean's List (US-DL) is earned at the end of the semester and takes effect the semester immediately following. The recipient must avail himself of the scholarship during the designated semester or he forfeits it. However, for reasons of health, he may request that the scholarship be deferred for a period of not more than one (1) semester.

A student who qualifies for a scholarship during his terminal semester may not avail of it after graduation.

A student who qualifies for a scholarship in one College may not enjoy the same scholarship should he transfer to another College.

A student may enjoy a scholarship or grant-in-aid only during a regular semester.

NOTE:

A student who earns a scholarship or grant-in-aid during the second semester and needs only one summer in order to graduate may enjoy the scholarship or grant during the summer term immediately following the second semester.

The Guest Scholarship Program for PhD and post-doctoral studies in Sweden for Indonesian Student

The Guest Scholarship Program for PhD and post-doctoral studies for 2011/2012 are offered to the students/researchers on this list (pdf). Remember to scroll to page 2 if you are a category 2 candidate.)

Successful applicants will also receive a formal confirmation of the scholarship offer by e-mail.

Countries

The program is open to candidates from two different categories of countries that determine certain aspects of the program. Therefore you must first find out which category that could be relevant for you.

1. Category one:

Candidates coming from countries on the Development Assistance Committee list of recipients of Official Development Assistance, the so-called ODA recipients.

The program is not open to candidates from Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, in spite of them being on the DAC list of ODA recipients. These citizens should instead apply for scholarship through the Visby Program.

In category one the Swedish Institute has the opportunity to offer approximately 50 scholarships. The final number of scholarships depend on how many candidates in the final selection that have applied for PhD studies or Postdoctoral research, and on how long these candidates plan to stay in Sweden (6 , 12 or 18 months).

2. Category two:

Candidates coming from the following countries: Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Spain and the United States.

In category two we have the opportunity to offer approximately 5-10 scholarships. The final number of scholarships depend on how many candidates in the final selection that have applied for PhD studies or Postdoctoral research, and on how long these candidates plan to stay in Sweden (6, 12 or 18 months).

Target groups

The program provides PhD students and researchers with an excellent opportunity to conduct a study or research visit to a Swedish university within all fields of study. As a Guest Scholarship Program candidate you can choose to apply for a study/research visit to Sweden according to the following models:

1. Post-doctoral research: a long-term postdoctoral research visit of 12 or 18 months.
2. PhD studies: a long-term PhD research visit of 6 or 12 months.

Scholarship benefits

The scholarship amounts to SEK 12,000 per month for PhD students and SEK 15,000 for postdoctoral researchers.

Eligibility

The scholarships are intended for guest students or researchers belonging to any of the above mentioned countries and target groups, applying for full-time temporary studies/research in Sweden. There is no age limit for the scholarship holders.

Please note that to be eligible for a scholarship at PhD level you must be enrolled in ongoing PhD studies at your home university.

Please also note that to be eligible for a scholarship at Postdoctoral level you must be holder of a PhD degree, preferably from 2006 or later.

However, you are not eligible for this scholarship if any of the following is true:

  • You have already lived in Sweden for two years of more when the scholarship period is due to begin.
  • You have a Swedish permanent residence permit.
  • You have a Swedish work permit and you are not an EU citizen.
  • You are applying for a scholarship at Postdoctoral level, but you do not hold any PhD degree.

Applicants previously awarded a scholarship from the SI for study or research at a Swedish university will not be given priority.

Travel grants

Scholarship holders from ODA countries will receive travel support in connection with the scholarship. The travel grant is a lump sum given only once.

Candidates from the following countries will receive a lump-sum of SEK 5,000: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia.

Candidates from remaining ODA recipient countries receive a lump-sum of SEK 10,000.

Insurance

Scholarship holders are insured by the Swedish State Group Insurance against illness and accident during the scholarship period. For citizens of EU member states and other Convention countries the insurance applies with certain limitations.

Scholarship limitations

Scholarship periods are fixed to 6, 12 or 18 months. The scholarship periods cannot be altered or prolonged.

The scholarship is designed to cover the cost of living for the scholarship holder only. There are no grants available for family members. No bench fee is provided.

Informasi Beasiswa Jepang

Beasiswa biasanya hanya menanggung sebagian dari biaya kuliah atau biaya hidup saja sedangkan beasiswa yang menanggung keseluruhan biaya selama studi di Jepang sangat jarang. Oleh karena itu, pertimbangkanlah dengan baik berapa biaya keseluruhan untuk belajar dan hidup di Jepang serta rencanakanlah secara tepat tanpa harus tergantung pada beasiswa.

Berdasarkan angket atas biaya hidup mahasiswa asing biaya sendiri yang dibuat oleh JASSO bulan Maret 2005, diperoleh data bahwa sekitar 45% mahasiswa asing dengan biaya sendiri ini ditunjang dengan beasiswa yang besarnya rata-rata sekitar ¥53.000 per bulan. Dan menurut data Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education per Oktober 2006 sekitar 16,4% dari siswa lembaga pendidikan Bahasa Jepang mendapat beasiswa dengan besar sekitar ¥48.062 per bulan.

Jenis beasiswa berdasarkan pengajuan permohonan terdiri dari beasiswa yang dapat diajukan sebelum kedatangan ke Jepang dan setelah kedatangan di Jepang, tetapi umumnya pengajuan permohonan beasiswa ini harus diajukan setelah kedatangan di Jepang. Berdasarkan jenis penerima, beasiswa umumnya diperuntukkan bagi mahasiswa di universitas, peneliti atau jenjang yang lebih tinggi sedangkan untuk mahasiswa college, siswa lembaga pendidikan Bahasa Jepang, mahasiswa pendengar dan pengumpul kredit, serta mahasiswa peneliti sangat sedikit.

Seleksi penerimaan beasiswa meliputi seleksi dokumen, ujian tulis bidang studi dan ilmu pengetahuan, kemampuan bahasa, wawancara dsb. Silakan cari informasi lengkap melalui bagian mahasiswa asing di universitas di Jepang sebab hampir semua pendaftaran harus dilakukan melalui kampus tempat mahasiswa asing tsb belajar di Jepang. Di samping bantuan keuangan, bantuan ekonomi juga bisa dalam bentuk pengurangan biaya kuliah atau bantuan materi lainnya.

INFORMASI BAGI PARA ALUMNI DARI JEPANG

Bagi para alumni Jepang yang telah kembali ke tanah air JASSO memberikan bantuan diantaranya :

A. PROGRAM PENELITIAN JANGKA PENDEK ( FOLLOW UP RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP)

1.Tujuan :

Memberikan kesempatan bagi pada alumni dari negara yang berkembang di Asia, Amerika tengah, Amerika Selatan , Timur tengah, Afrika dll yang saat ini sedang aktif di dunia pendidikan, penelitian dan pemerintahan untuk melakukan penelitian bersama dengan para peneliti di Universitas di Jepang untuk memberikan kontribusi bagi perkembangan pendidikan, ilmu pengetahuan dan pemerintahan di negara yang sedang berkembang serta memajukan penelitian ilmiah dan pertukaran internasional dengan universitas di Jepang.

2.Kualifikasi :

1) Alumni Mahasiswa Jepang berkewarganegaraan yang tercantum disini dan saat ini sedang aktif di lembaga pendidikan, penelitian dan pemerintahan ( Pengecualian bagi alumni yang bekerja di perusahaan swasta).

2) Memiliki status tinggal (visa) sebagai " College Student " saat studi di Jepang.

3) Telah lulus dari program Master ( S-2 ) atau Doktor ( S-3) di Universitas Jepang

4) Usia kurang dari 45 dan telah kembali ke tanah airnya selama lebih dari 5 tahun.

5) Telah diterima oleh universitas di Jepang untuk melakukan penelitian bersama

6) Dapat mengurus persyaratan untuk mendapatkan visa ke Jepang.

3. Jangka waktu penelitian :

Maksimal dalam jangka waktu 90 hari, dimulai antara 1 Juni tahun tersebut hingga 31 Maret tahun berikutnya.

4. Jumlah Penerimaan :

Maksimal 60 orang ( Untuk Tahun Anggaran 2007 : 60 orang penerima)

5. Fasilitas :

1) Tiket pulang - pergi ke dan dari Jepang ( kelas ekonomi dengan rute yang paling ekonomis )

2) Biaya transportasi dari bandara di jepang hingga universitas ( rute yang paling ekonomis )

3) Tunjangan selama berada di Jepang ¥9.800/hari

4) Biaya transportasi penelitian di jepang maksimal ¥ 43.000 ( Tahun Anggaran 2007 )

6. Prosedur Pengajuan :

Alumni Mahasiswa Jepang yang berminat untuk mengikuti program penelitian Jangka Pendek ini harus terlebih dahulu menghubungi pembimbing di Universitas penerima di Jepang, untuk selanjutnya universitas di jepang akan menghubungi JASSO untuk melakukan prosedur selanjutnya. Pihak Universitas akan menyerahkan Answer Sheet dan surat rekomendasi dan formulir aplikasi yang sudah diisi oleh calon peneliti.

7.Batas Waktu Pengajuan :

Akhir Januari (Batas waktu pengajuan di pihak universitas berbeda-beda, harap konfirmasikan ke masing-masing universitas )

8.Pemberitahuan Hasil Seleksi :

Setelah pihak universitas menyerahkan semua dokumen yang ditetapkan ke JASSO, tim penyeleksi akan menetapkan calon penerima bantuan penelitian ini dan akan memberitahukan ke pihak universitas kira-kira akhir April.Apabila jumlah pelamar melebihi jumlah penerimaan yang tersedia maka calon yang belum pernah mengikuti program ini akan diprioritaskan.

B. PROGRAM BIMBINGAN PENELITIAN ( FOLLOW-UP RESERACH GUIDANCE )

1. Tujuan :

JASSO memberikan bantuan dengan mengutus mantan pembimbing saat studi di Jepang ke tempat alumnus mahasiswa Jepang yang saat ini aktif di lembaga pendidikan, lembaga penelitian di negara asalnya untuk menyelenggarakan program bimbingan penelitian bagi para alumnus tsb melalui simposium, seminar dll. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan, metode penelitian yang para alumnus sudah dapatkan di Jepang, meningkatkan kerjasama antara peneliti jepang dan peneliti lokal serta memotivasi mahasiswa lokal untuk studi di Jepang.

2. Negara yang dapat dikunjungi:

Asia ( Bangladesh, Bhutan, Kamboja, China ( termasuk Hongkong dan Macao ), Timor Timur, India, Indonesia, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philipina, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand dan Viethnam.

3. Isi Program :

Lama bimbingan maksimal 10 hari. Pembimbing terdiri dari 1 orang atau tim yang terdiri dari 2-3 orang. Program ini dilaksanakan sbb :

1) Melakukan bimbingan penelitian kepada alumnus

2) Pembimbing pada prinsipnya berpartisipasi, membantu dan bertukar informasi penelitian pada seminar yang diselenggarakan untuk peneliti termasuk alumnus dari Jepang yang berkaitan dengan bidang penelitian yang sudah dilakukan oleh alumnus di Jepang.

3) Memberikan ceramah ( kuliah ) khusus kepada para mahasiswa umum dalam bidang ybs.

4) Memberikan informasi pendidikan di Jepang kepada mahasiswa umum berkaitan dengan bidang ybs.

5) Bertukar informasi / pendapat perihal pendidikan dan bidang akademis lainnya dengan pihak universitas.

4. Syarat Pembimbing :

Pembimbing Utama yang berstatus sebagai pengajar/peneliti tetap di universitas tempat alumnus tsb belajar di Jepang ( kecuali program Junior College tidak termasuk )

5. Syarat Mahasiswa Bimbingan :

1) Memiliki status tinggal sebagai " College Student " saat studi di Jepang.

2) Telah menyelesaikan studi pada program Master ( S-2 ) atau Doktor ( S-3) di universitas Jepang.

3) Telah kembali ke tanah air lebih dari 2- 4 tahun

4) Saat ini bekerja sebagai pengajar atau peneliti di lembaga penelitian di tanah airnya.

6. Jangka waktu :

Maksimal dalam jangka waktu 10 hari, dimulai antara 1 juni tahun tsb hingga 10 Maret tahun berikutnya.

7.Jumlah penerimaan :

8 orang ( Tahun Anggaran 2007 : 8 orang )

8. Fasilitas :

1) Tiket pulang - pergi ke dan dari Jepang ( kelas ekonomi dengan rute yang paling ekonomis )

2) Tunjangan harian, akomodasi dan persiapaan keberangkatan sesuai aturan JASSO
3) Tunjangan Penelitian ( Tahun Anggaran 2006 : Maksimal
¥ 83.000 )

4) Tunjangan alat-alat penelitian ( JASSO memberikan tunjangan maksimal ¥ 450.000 sebagai tunjangan alat-alat penelitian yang akan diberikan ke lembaga tempat alumnus bekerja setelah selesai program bimbingan penelitian. Tunjangan alat-alat penelitian ini termasuk harga alat, pengiriman dll )

9.Prosedur Pengajuan:

Pihak Universitas Jepang menyiapkan dokumen yang diperlukan dan menyerahkan ke JASSO untuk proses selanjutnya.

10. Batas Waktu Pengajuan :

Akhir Januari (Batas waktu pengajuan di pihak universitas berbeda-beda, harap konfirmasikan ke masing-masing universitas )

11.Pemberitahuan Hasil Seleksi

Setelah pihak universitas menyerahkan semua dokumen yang ditetapkan ke JASSO, tim penyeleksi akan menetapkan calon penerima bantuan penelitian ini dan akan memberitahukan ke pihak universitas kira-kira akhir April.Apabila jumlah pelamar melebihi jumlah penerimaan yang tersedia maka calon yang belum pernah mengikuti program ini akan diprioritaskan.
